
Silent Hill 2 Remake Guide
I hope that this guide is helpful to the readers. This Silent Hill 2 Remake guide is intended for use specifically for the Light Mode difficulty of the game. This is not a 100% guide nor does it focuses on trophy completion.

The game begins with James staring over what looks like a hill station. His wife, Mary, has left him a note to come find her in their special place; however, James is wondering if that note is actually from his wife, as Mary passed away 3 years ago.
​
You should first grab the map of South Vale from the car with the number 000 TMZ. You can enter the restroom from the door with the sign that indicates it is for men. You cannot enter the restroom through the other door. However, there is nothing inside. Proceed to the sign that says ‘Toluca Lake’. If you go north side of the road, you will notice that the road is closed, and if you decide to go to the opposite side of the road, you will have to turn back when you reach the signboard that indicates no U-turn.

Head down the stairs, and you will see a bench with some cans lying on top of it. Go further down the stairs, and some music will start playing along with ambient sounds. Proceed further along the path till you reach a small well and your first save point of the game.

Progress further, and you will notice heavy fog, and you will see an old church and find a girl there who advises you not to go further, but James tells her that he is looking for someone important to him, to which the girl replies that she is looking for her mother and that her father and brother are also missing.

Writer’s note: You can talk with the girl a few times for more dialogue.

Go north and open the gates, and you will eventually come across a ranch called Silent Hill Ranch. Proceed further north, and you will reach a workshop named Best Auto Parts. There is a note that suggests the key is in the drawer. Enter through an open window in the side and grab the Auto Parts key from the locker. You can now open the locked red colored door to progress ahead.

Writer’s Note: You can open one of the lockers inside the place, but it is empty.

Now, continue going further till you reach the sign, THE ROADRUNNER. Grab the east side of South Vale map. Go to the right side and enter a flower shop. You would see that someone has left a message for Ms.Cassandra about an odd customer who was looking for a mixed red and white bouquet. Proceed further towards the exit, and you will see what looks like blood splatter on the ground.

From there, keep going north and turn to the right when you see the sign, Lindsey St. You will see the first enemy of the game, Lying Figure, which you will soon encounter. You will also notice blood splatter on the road. Keep going towards the north direction till you see the sign, RESERVED PARKING, and you will notice more blood splatter on the road. Go towards the left to follow the enemy. You will see an entrance, where you need to crawl to enter. You will see another save point. Enter and find an item called NUTRITION SUPPLEMENT. It is used for healing. Continue further, and you will find a radio making static noise. The radio makes noise when an enemy is nearby. You will now fight the first enemy of the game. Here is the strategy that I found useful. Attack the lying figure two times, wait for it to react, and use the dodge button to avoid getting hit. Dodging avoids the physical attack as well as the vomit attack that this enemy will use. Once the enemy hits the ground, you can hit it a few more times to ensure it stays down. You can also cancel attack animation to dodge. Continue onwards, and you will find another item, Syringe. Syringe is also used for healing, and it takes a little to use as it heals better compared to the NUTRITION SUPPLEMENT. Use the wooden plank to break through the window glass and exit the place. You can use the wooden plank to break windows as well as for breaking car windows. Breaking car windows is handy, as you can use the items lying inside the car.

Writer’s Note: Through the streets, you will find a variant of the Lying Figure enemy that crawls on the ground. But it can also get up, and do phyical attack as well as the vomit attack.

Proceed ahead and examine the body on the street to find a matchbox box and just further to it is a note. James will mark the map that suggests you go to NEELY’S BAR. Just further ahead is another save point, and you will see an enemy running away. Follow the map to enter NEELY’S BAR. Read the note. James will make a note on the map. Then grab the Broken Vinyl Record from the Jukebox. There is also a save point inside that place. Next stop is GROOVY MUSIC.

But first, enter the side door to GRAND MARKET. You will encounter a new type of enemy, CREEPER. Enter the code 4442 for the lock door. Inside, you will find three packs of handgun ammo (Penguin) and 3 packs of NUTRITION SUPPLEMENT. Exit by unlocking the main door. On the road, you will see one of the Police cars with the 201 number mentioned on the backside. Break the car window to grab an ammo pack.

Enter GROOVY MUSIC. Inside, there are two enemies. Break the glass and pick up another piece of Broken Vinyl Record along with the Vinyl Glue. Now combine all 3 items, and you will end up with Glued up Vinyl Record.
​
Go to where it says Katz St. on the map. There is a car there, break one of it’s window to grab a NUTRITION SUPPLEMENT. Enter Big Jay’s to grab a NUTRITION SUPPLEMENT. There is a note, and an enemy inside.
​
Next enter Cafe Texan and grab a health drink as well as Neely’s Bar Coin. There will an enemy encounter inside. Next stop SAUL STREET APARTMENTS. First when you reach there, just go a little to the north and grab a few notes from the ground. You will encouter a few enemies. Enter the vehicle you see to grab a note as well as a health drink. Now enter the apartment.

Push the object, read the small note, grab the Apartment Key, and unlock the door from the inside. Before climbing the stairs, go a little further and grab the health drink from the room. Climb the stairs and crawl to enter apartment no.7 and grab a note. Next go to apartment 5, and use the key to enter. Exit through windows, and climb the stairs, and enter the open window. Use the option to search inside the hole to find Jukebox button. Exit the apartment down through the ladder and go back to NEELY’S BAR. Use the coin and the button as well as the Vinyl Record. Press C 2. You will get Neely’s Bar Key. Use the key to unlock the door inside the bar, and grab a health drink, read a note. James will make a note in the map, follow the directions, and you will encouter 3 enemies. Grab Wood Side Apartments Key.
Now you can skip the enemies, and go straight towards the next destination. Enter the room, remove the cloth and save.

There is a health drink under the stairs. There is also a note around in the little lockers. Take the stairs and go to the 2nd floor for an ammo pack. Grab the Wood Side Apartments 1F Map right outside of the save room. To the right in the bathroom, there is an ammo pack. There is also another ammo pack in the drawer inside the save room. Climb the stairs to the first floor and enter room 202. There is a health drink to the left. Go near the clothed mannequin to find a new tool, a Flashlight. You will encounter a new type of enemy here, Mannequins. Open the drawer to get the Chute Courtyard Key.

Go down the stairs and use the key to open the door that is to the right of the save room. Adjust the trolley to the open window and enter. Turn left into the bedroom to grab an ammo pack. There is a newspaper on the table. Exit the room and go right to enter room 109. Grab the ammo pack and fight the enemy in the bedroom. Exit and continue further, and unlock the door. A cutscene plays out. Now return to the door that you unlocked using the key and turn left to notice the green door is open. Proceed without entering anywhere to grab the 2F Hallway Key. Enter the room next to it and check the music note near the piano. Enter the bedroom to grab a health drink. Exit the room and enter the door to the left. Open the cupboard. Pick up the Golden Apple Handle. Exit the room and enter the next one to the left in the hallway. Notice a note in the kitchen and grab an ammo pack from near the TV. Exit out all the way to return to the save room to save.
