Resident Evil Games
The Resident Evil series is one of my favorite series in video gaming. The zombie enemies (whenever I see zombies in any form of media, it reminds me of this series), save room themes, and iconic characters all left a lasting impression. Here is my assessment of each Resident Evil game, based on my personal preferences. <1> Resident Evil 1 and Resident Evil Remake: I started with this one, and I remember most, if not all, of the game. The pre-rendered left a remarkable impres

Which is the core skill that makes one very good at playing video games
Some players may think that it is about speedy reactions, while others may think that it is all about hand-eye coordination. I used to think that being a pro at gaming would likely involve fast finger work. Everyone has their own viewpoint on which is the core skill that makes one very good at playing video games. I believe that focus is the core skill. A focused player tends to make few mistakes. Faster reactions and overall general high speed are achieved only if your focus

Modern Games are overpolished and generic
Modern video games, particularly the open-world games, have become boring over the years. I think that modern games are overpolished and generic, and because they follow the same repetitive standard seen in many other open-world games, it feels boring. Lack of creativity in the game’s overall structure. However, simplicity still works fine; sometimes a rough diamond is more appealing compared to overly polished titles. Take Dragon’s Dogma, solid combat, an open-world setting

Dark Souls 2 is the best game in the Dark Souls trilogy for me
It is the slow-paced combat, availability of life gems for healing, and that make Dark Souls 2 : scholar of the first sin stands out more compared to other games in the series for me. Dark Souls 2 does have issues, such as weapons breaking faster, the enemies that often attack in groups, and certain poor level designs. It is the easiest game in the Souls trilogy for me. There are enough weapons and armors, as well as a decent variety of enemies, that keep things entertaining.

The argument about not having any difficulty settings
Difficulty settings have been a feature of gaming since its inception. There have also been many games that did not offer any options to set the difficulty. But saying that games should not have any difficulty options so that they can be played as the developers intended is not appropriate in my opinion. There are games that offer difficulty options, but they also showcase the default option that the developers recommend players apply while playing the game. The issue with th

Perfect / Near-perfect games
I find Resident Evil 4 to be a perfect / near-perfect game. From start to finish, the game maintained a very good pace, a consistent flow of action and puzzles, a good variety of weapons, and a decent amount of enemy variety. There is another reason why I consider Resident Evil 4 to be a perfect or near-perfect game. It has very good replayability. The game always felt very fun to play, regardless of how many times I replayed it. It is the stylish characters and the intense g

A different approach to playing hard games
Games that do not offer difficulty options can often feel very hard, especially for casual players or players like me who prefer to play games in normal mode. Most people determined to play will generally think about not giving up and keep retrying till they can finish the game. A friend recently advised me not to think of the game in terms of its difficulty and to play it normally. Her approach made me realize that it is all about your approach to any given game, your mental

Why multiplayer games may feel addictive
I don't generally play multiple multiplayer games, but the one I have been playing for thousands of hours is extremely addictive. It often affects the time I spend playing video games, as I often tend to ignore other games and keep playing the online FPS shooter. I do not use the mic much, but I can understand the fun factor of playing with a group of people dedicated to the games you play daily. There are various reasons why multiplayer games may feel addictive. There is no

Types of graphics that will always look good
These days, graphics are increasingly realistic, thanks to the various engines that are making games more and more visually high-fidelity. Among older generations, we have observed various types of graphics that will always look good. In terms of the most realistic graphic style, I believe that the pre-rendered graphics are most realistic. Then there are the cel-shaded graphics that will always look clean, detailed, and shiny. Examples of highly pre-rendered graphics exist al

Playing alone compared to playing with others or streaming
I was playing Silent Hill 2 Remake last night. The game is scary and involves a lot of puzzle-solving, and it does not involve as much action as the Resident Evil games. A friend was watching me play another game earlier, Battlefield V, which is a multiplayer online FPS shooter. The friend continued watching me play when I switched games and started to play Silent Hill 2. Now I have streamed before, so streaming games is not a new experience for me. But screensharing for a si

The Suikoden series is my favorite JRPG series
The Suikoden games have unique features that are not found in other JRPGs. This includes having a base for both playable and non-playable characters, which is an abandoned castle where the player can perform various activities, including playing mini-games. All Suikoden games feature 108 stars of destiny as the protagonists, of which around 70% are playable characters. No other JRPG has this many playable characters. The simple turn-based combat system has enough variety that

Tips for going through open world games without feeling bored:-
Focus on the main story mission / main quest. Only do the side activity that interests you the most. If treasures or equipment are actually worthwhile in the game, try to collect them via exploration. If grinding is allowed and level scaling is off, try to grind for levels and keep fighting enemies of lower levels compared to the level of your character. That way, in the long run, you will have a power advantage over enemies later in the game. Try to master the combat. Practi

The art of cover design in video games
During the 8-bit era, when I used to rent games, it was the cover art that would generate interest and curiosity for me. Sometimes, the NES era games showcased Anime cover art, which made me think that the game would be about some Anime that I am not aware of, but the actual game would look much different as opposed to what is shown in the cover art. Basically, the game’s cover art was the deciding factor for me. That continued till the early PS1 and PC game renting era for m

Open world game fatigue in video games
There are too many open-world games with little difference in the formulae of open-world traversal has caused open world game fatigue in video games. You will mostly see the same quests repeated throughout the game, like freeing the outposts. One main activity in most open-world games is collecting various items throughout the open world, which I refer to as the collection chore. However, not all open-world games need to have the same issues. Here are my suggestions that migh

Battlefield V vs Battlefield 6
Battlefield V vs Battlefield 6. Battlefield V compared to Battlefield 6. In terms of graphics, Battlefield 6 is better, but visually, Battlefield V is cleaner. Audio, both are good, and while both offer 3D audio, Battlefield 6 has a spatial audio option that works well with the spatial audio technology available on consoles, such as the Tempest 3d audio on the PS5. In gameplay, Battlefield V is better. Animations and flow, smoother gameplay, and in-depth technicality of the s

Cutscenes in video games are important
During the Nintendo NES era, cutscenes were a significant part of any game, as they often showcased the console's graphical prowess in most cases. Take the game Contra, for example; the ending cutscene was a treat, and I remember finishing the game multiple times just to see the helicopter attacking the island. The Ninja Gaiden games on the NES also had some of the best cutscenes of that time. I personally enjoy cutscenes in video games. In my opinion, the cutscenes in video

WRC 10 vs WRC Generations
If you played the previous games, WRC 8 or 9, you will recognize the changes in physics in WRC 10, and the same has been further improved in Generations. WRC 10 adds more weight to the cars, and compared to 8 and 9, the cars feel less snappy to drive. Especially while turning, one can feel the car having more weight and a bit slower compared to previous WRC games. WRC Generations has better physics compared to WRC 10. Graphically, both are rather similar, with lighting differ

Console gaming issues since the last two generations
The primary issue with console gaming today is performance, regardless of the game engine used. I prefer console gaming for the following reasons: Consoles do not need any upgrades and offer new games for at least 7 years. Console gaming is generally free of various issues such as freezes/crashes, screen tearing, etc., and more. Besides buying controllers, headphones/earphones, and maybe a few accessories over the years, there are hardly any additional expenses involved in co

Laziness in JRPGS
I like Japanese RPGs, also known as JRPGs/J-RPGS, a lot. In fact, I prefer Japanese games in general over Western-developed games. Over the years, having played since the NES era, I have noticed that Japanese developers tend to maximize their resources, making even small-budget games look polished. Basically, even in the case of a low color count and other similar shortcomings of a game’s graphics prowess, the presentation still remains top-notch. E.g., Punch-out has very goo

Recommended Earphones, IEMs and Headphones for gaming
Spatial audio is common now, and I would recommend getting the earphones or headphones that support any form of spatial audio. Below are the list of recommended Earphones, IEMs and Headphones for gaming:- Final VR500 Wired Earphones The earphones are perfectly suitable for spatial audio technologies such as Dolby Atmos, DTS X, Tempest 3D on PlayStation 5, Windows Sonic, etc. Provides a very wide soundstage; audio is detailed, bass is lacking, and the treble can feel almost ha
