The argument about not having any difficulty settings

Difficulty settings have been a feature of gaming since its inception. There have also been many games that did not offer any options to set the difficulty. But saying that games should not have any difficulty options so that they can be played as the developers intended is not appropriate in my opinion. There are games that offer difficulty options, but they also showcase the default option that the developers recommend players apply while playing the game.
The issue with the lack of difficulty options is that it can make players quit the game when they cannot handle the given difficulty. While it may motivate or encourage the players to try better, it can also easily frustrate them. Having difficulty options enables players of all types, including casual players, to not only play the game but also potentially make their gaming experience enjoyable. Locking the game out of difficulty options might force players to complete the game at the default difficulty, but it does not necessarily make the game enjoyable. Players who finish the games without the difficulty options might not really like it, and they might have only bothered to complete the game out of habit of finishing games that they play or to get their money’s worth. And even after that, they will highly likely criticize the game for its annoying difficulty.
There are many players who prefer easy difficulty settings, many who prefer the normal mode, and certainly many who may prefer the hardest possible difficulty. Having difficulty options caters to them all. The reality is that the lack of a difficulty option is completely avoidable, and it does not make the game more approachable to many players. There is no need to force the players to play video games without any difficulty options. So there is no need for the argument about not having any difficulty settings.
