There are too many open-world games with little difference in the formulae of open-world traversal has caused open world game fatigue in video games. You will mostly see the same quests repeated throughout the game, like freeing the outposts. One main activity in most open-world games is collecting various items throughout the open world, which I refer to as the collection chore. However, not all open-world games need to have the same issues. Here are my suggestions that might enhance the open-world setting in video games:-
Avoid repeating any activities or side-quests, which means no single activity or quest should be the same. This requires creativity and effort by the developers.
Provide a large variety of treasures, weapons, armors, and items for the layers, so that the players get the motivation to explore the open world, ever so curious for what reward they might get.
More variety in everything is very helpful for any open-world game. Add more enemy variety and places to visit, all while avoiding repetitive-looking structures, such as the same buildings or mountains, etc.
Linear game design has limited game length, and by design, it rarely feels repetitive. Open-world game design offers a unique opportunity to add depth to any game. If done well, it should not feel boring, repetitive, or a chore to play.
